ICE BREAKER: What is your biggest goal for 2024?

REVIEW:

This Sunday, we celebrated our 5th anniversary as a part of Jesus' Movement! It has been a fantastic season of growth and life change, and we should acknowledge how God has provided for us!

What is your favorite memory or most impactful moment from the first five years of MetaChurch?

We also turned our attention to the future and the BIG vision that God has given us. We are organizing so that IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, WE WILL HAVE A METACHURCH VENUE WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF EVERY PERSON IN SAN ANTONIO! We believe the Holy Spirit will enable us to accomplish this audacious goal!

To prepare ourselves for the adventure ahead, we started a new series called "Barrier To Entry." This series acknowledges that there will be significant obstacles to our personal goals and our movement at Meta. To start gaining the needed perspective, we looked at the story of Joshua and the city of Jericho.

Jericho was a large, fortified city that stood between the Israelites and God's promise. Joshua was a young leader, and Jericho was his most significant test to date! Joshua loved the Lord, and an angel of the Lord came and gave him clear instructions on how to move forward.

While it was nice to have a plan, the plan itself seemed absolutely insane. Basically, Joshua would lead his people to walk in circles for a whole week and then scream really loud! Jericho was a massive barrier to entry, and the success of the mission came down to one question:

CAN I TRUST GOD WHEN I FACE MY BARRIERS?

Over the last five years, MetaChurch has endured massive obstacles in the way of our movement. To this point, we have always chosen to trust God, no matter what. In response, God has been over-the-top gracious to us!

APPLY:

Over the next three weeks, we will get super practical on the barriers to entry for our vision moving forward. We intend to open our 2nd location THIS YEAR! We are going to organize ourselves to see that critical next step through.

However, first, we needed the broadest perspective on what to do when there is a barrier to entry in our lives. The story of Jericho shows us the two steps to victory: TRUST GOD

KEEP WALKING

So often, when there seems to be a barrier or obstacle in our life, we allow fear to take over, and we stop moving in faith. If we truly trust God, we will keep walking out the vision he has given us, even when it seems crazy! Remember:

WHAT WE SEE AS A BARRIER TO ENTRY

GOD SEES AS A BRIDGE TO EXPANSION

What is a Barrier To Entry that you see in your own life? (Something holding you back or keeping you from pursuing what God has placed on your heart.)

What is one way you can Trust God and Keep Walking during your struggles?

PRAY:

Spend some time asking the Holy Spirit to give you courage. Ask Jesus to show you what is holding you back from trusting Him and taking small steps of faith.
