RAP SHEET 8/20/23

Series: MetaVision

Sermon: Where We Are Going!

Scripture: Acts 1:8

ICE BREAKER: What is one of your fondest memories from the first five years of MetaChurch (or however long you have been here)?

REVIEW:

This week we talked about having a BIG, IMPOSSIBLE vision. We used the example of the Wright brothers, two bicycle mechanics who believed human flight was possible even though many experts said it wasn't!

Today, we take human flight for granted. We complain if our seats aren't comfortable or they don't have our favorite soda on board. We sit in what was once impossible and assume it should be here.

We do the same with the Church! The odds stacked against the movement that Jesus started seem insurmountable in retrospect! However, the movement moved and grew, just like Jesus promised it would. Now, we tend to take church for granted. We sit in what was once impossible and assume it should be here.

The biggest danger in taking the church for granted, is that we have quite dreaming God-sized dreams for the movement. We have become content with a weekly service that, hopefully, some people come to.

The MISSION that Jesus assigned us was to ambitiously take this movement as far and wide as we possible could!

Acts1

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

This call has birthed a new vision for MetaChurch! We have identified what our Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria are and plan to concentrically spread the Movement of Jesus to those areas through MetaChurch!

The vision breaks down into a 5, 10, and 15-year plan. These correspond with Jesus’ instruction to be His witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth.

Jerusalem is where the Disciples currently were. Often we want to jet across the world when we have not done “Whatever It Takes” right in our community.

Our 5-Year Plan is to focus on our “JERUSALEM” by opening enough locations to ensure everyone in San Antonio is 20 minutes or less from a MetaChurch Venue.

Judea was the “Southern Kingdom’ in Israel. It was not that different culturally, yet it still held its distinctions.

Our 10 Year Plan is to expand to our “Judea” by opening MetaChurch Venue HUBs in Major Texas Cities.

Samaria was officially a foreign territory, although it bordered Israel. The culture was undoubtedly different but still retained some core similarities.

Our 15 Year Plan is to start a MetaChurch in every state that borders Texas.

Beyond that, we hope to go to "The ends of the earth," just like Jesus said!

APPLY:

What vision has God given you for your life?

Vision is not something that only happens in a corporate movement. God gives vision and dreams for us as individuals too!

What have you given up on because it simply seemed impossible?

What will it look like for you to go "ALL IN" at MetaChurch to see this vision through?

PRAY:

Join Pastor Clayton, and the staff, by committing to pray for this vision and for God's will to be done. Our vision is to be maximally effective for God's Kingdom in our city and beyond!
