RAP SHEET 6/11/23

Series: MADE TO

Sermon: Made To Love Unconditionally

ICE BREAKER: What is your FAVORITE Love Story? (This could be a novel, rom-com, or even real life story).

REVIEW:

Mahatma Gandhi is quoted saying:

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

This week we talked through the critical importance of Christians learning to love like Christ. When polled, non-Christians describe the Church as "hypocritical" and "judgmental" more than any other descriptors!

In the life of Jesus, we see someone who was unwavering in His commitment to holiness, and yet he was constantly pursued and surrounded by those who were outside of the faith. This is what unconditional love does - it holds its ground while loving without strings attached!

To help us understand this we looked at several stories of Jesus interacting with hurting and broken people. We read through:

-Jesus healing the leper

-The call of Matthew the tax collector

-Jesus with the woman at the well

-The rescue of the woman caught in adultery

-& Jesus eating at the house of Zacchaeus

Which story resonated with you the most?

Why do you think that is?

The last scripture we looked at was Jesus forgiving all of us from the cross! This is the ultimate proof of love without condition.

APPLY:

We find INSPIRATION in how Jesus loves us and loved the people around Him during his time on earth. Now, it is our ASPIRATION to show that type of Jesus-Love to the world around us!

Who are the hardest types of people for you to show love to?

What is holding you back from being bold in your love for the people around you?

What is ONE, NEW WAY, you could demonstrate Unconditional Love this week? (Be specific)

PRAY:

Spend some time reflecting on the love of Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you areas in your life where you can love more like Jesus.
