RAP SHEET 6/2/24

Series: Stupid In Love

Sermon: Situationships

Scripture: Genesis 2, 1 Corinthians 6, Philippians 2

ICE BREAKER: What is the most awkward date you have ever been on?

REVIEW: This week, we continued our series "Stupid In Love" by addressing the modern dating culture and how it contrasts with biblical principles. We explored the current dating terminology and how it reflects a selfish, sexual, and senseless approach to relationships. In contrast, we discussed the importance of being selfless, spiritual, and significant in our dating lives.

Key Points:

  1. Selfless: True relationships require sacrifice and selflessness, as illustrated by Adam giving up a rib for Eve (Genesis 2:18-22).

  2. Spiritual: Prioritizing spiritual compatibility over sexual compatibility is crucial for a healthy, God-centered relationship (1 Corinthians 6:18, Philippians 2:2).

  3. Significant: Dating with a purpose and understanding the long-term impact of our actions today can lead to fulfilling and meaningful relationships (Genesis 2:24).

APPLY:

If You Are Single:

  • Reflect on how you can be more selfless in your dating approach. Are there areas where you need to prioritize the well-being of others over your own desires?

  • Consider your spiritual priorities. Are you seeking relationships that align with your faith and encourage spiritual growth?

  • Think about the significance of your dating actions. How are your current dating habits preparing you for a future, meaningful relationship?

If You Are Married:

  • Evaluate how selflessness plays a role in your marriage. Are there ways you can better support and sacrifice for your spouse?

  • Discuss with your spouse how you can grow spiritually together. Are there practices or activities you can engage in to strengthen your spiritual bond?

  • Reflect on the significance of your relationship. How can you continue to build a purposeful and meaningful marriage?

PRAY: Ask God to help you embrace selflessness, prioritize spiritual growth, and seek significant relationships. Pray for wisdom to navigate the dating landscape in a way that honors Him and leads to lasting fulfillment.
