RAP Sheet 7/5/20

Message: Justice for ONE

REVIEW:

This week we launched a new series, seeking to understand a Biblical view of Justice.

We learned that there is a huge shift in the outcome of Justice before and after Jesus!

What surprised you about the world before the influence of Jesus?

How does the social impact Jesus had on the world affect your faith?

Justice is simply people getting what they deserve and not getting what they do not deserve. It falls to the worldview of the cultural context to fill-in what exactly it is that people deserve! Before Jesus, this was based on equity - if you had power you were in charge, if not you were oppressed.

The life, death, resurrection, and movement of Jesus changed everything! Jesus instituted a new norm of humility. This humility is based on the belief that God, not man is the ultimate judge. God will judge our lives not based on the equity we achieved, but the love that we showed equally across all demographics.

Right now, our world is fighting for equality while organizing for division. It is imperative that the church moves in unity to love across all boundaries!

APPLY:

HERE IS YOUR APPLICATION QUESTION:

What is ONE WAY you will show humility to those with different viewpoints this week?

It is easy to show equality to people who look like us, vote like us, think like us, etc. It is the Movement of Jesus when we love and show grace to those who are nothing like us.

Our world is so quick to see a different viewpoint and label it crazy, idiotic, or even evil. However, if you are willing to get to know someone from that 'group' it is much harder to see them in that light! That is the power of Justice for ONE!

PRAY:

Our world is fractured and the people of God need to be on their knees in prayer! Let us pray fervently for peace and true Kingdom Justice! Ask God to show us how we can be a light in such a dark time. Lean into the spirit leading you to be the hands and feet of God. Pray for humility to fight for the equality of all people!
