Sermon: Pursuit Requires Role Models
Scripture: Philippians 2:19-30
REVIEW:
This week, we continued in Paul's letter to the Philippians and saw him highlight two believers as role models for the church. Timothy was a young leader in the church who exemplified humility in his life and ministry. Epaphroditus was from Philippi and had risked his life to bring an offering to Paul, and Paul's letter back to the church.
All of us have a sinful nature because of the broken world we live in. That is why it is critical to put ourselves in a community with people who can nurture our God-given purpose and help us reach our potential for Jesus. Pursuit requires role models. We all need people we can look up to, and we should also strive to be role models for others around us!
APPLY:
Self-Reflection: Who are your role models? Do they lead you toward trivial pursuits or meaningful, God-centered pursuits?
Influence Check: How can you be a positive role model for others in your community, workplace, or family?
Community Involvement: How has your Life Team helped you pursue a life of following Jesus?
PRAY:
Lord, thank You for the examples of Timothy and Epaphroditus, who lived lives of humility and service. Help us to choose and be role models who lead others toward meaningful and purposeful pursuits. Guide us in building communities that reflect Your love and purpose. Amen.
