RAP SHEET 9/8/24

Sermon: Trust the Process

Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7, John 14:4-5

REVIEW:

This week, we learned the importance of trusting the process in our spiritual journey with God. So often, we desire quick results without wanting to go through the necessary process. Similarly, in our relationship with God, we want His blessings and freedom immediately, but we often neglect the process of growth and transformation. We were reminded of the difference between justification—being made right with God through faith in Jesus, which happens in a moment—and sanctification, the lifelong process of becoming more like Christ.

Sanctification is "the process," and in the letter to the Colossians, we learned three steps to trusting that process:

BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST - NOT OUR CIRCUMSTANCE

FOLLOWING CHRIST - NOT THE CULTURE

ABIDING IN CHRIST - NOT OUR OWN CONTROL

APPLY:

  1. Reflect on Your Spiritual Growth: Are there areas where you’ve been trying to skip the process and want instant results? How can you refocus on trusting the process and letting God work in His timing?

  2. Stay Rooted in Christ: When life gets challenging, do you tend to focus on your circumstances or stay rooted in Christ? How can you ensure that your faith remains strong regardless of what you face?

  3. Abide in Christ Daily: What practical ways can you abide in Jesus daily?

PRAY:

Lord, help us trust in You and your process for our lives. Remind us that our spiritual growth takes time and that You are with us every step of the way. Strengthen our faith to stay rooted in You, follow You above all else, and abide in Your love and grace daily. We trust You are in control, even when we don’t see immediate results. Guide and mold us into the people You have created us to be. Amen.
