REVIEW

This week, we witnessed the incredible moment when Mary visited Elizabeth and received Spirit-empowered affirmation that she was, in fact, carrying the Son of God.

We saw that:

  • Mary heard from God and hurried to obey—even when the road was hard.

  • Her act of obedience affirmed both Elizabeth’s faith and her own calling.

  • Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, broke out in a prophetic cry, confirming Mary’s role as the “mother of [her] Lord”—a declaration that Mary was carrying Yahweh in her womb.

  • This moment reminds us that when we respond to God with simple, faith-filled steps, the Spirit brings clarity, confirmation, and courage.

Mary is a picture of how the presence of God used to dwell in the Tabernacle—but now dwells in us, His Church. Just like her obedience-activated affirmation, our obedience often becomes the catalyst for others to step into faith as well.

APPLY

Take a few moments to reflect and discuss:

  1. When was the last time you heard God speak—through Scripture, prayer, or the prompting of the Spirit?

  2. Have you ever delayed obedience because you were afraid to take the next step? What held you back?

  3. How has someone else’s obedience ever impacted or confirmed something in your life?

What is ONE WAY you are going to HEAR and HURRY this week—taking a step of obedience, no matter how small, in response to what God is saying?

PRAY

Ask God to give you ears to hear His voice this week—and a heart that responds quickly. Thank Him for giving you His Spirit, just like He did for Mary and Elizabeth. Pray for the courage to take your next faithful step.

I do appreciate that Mary's response was a "Yes", her willingness definately spoke of her faith in the goodness of God towards her. I'm not so certain going to see Elizabeth was obedience as much as it was confirmation. The angel didn't instruct her to visit Elizabeth, he only told her Elizabeth was also expecting a child. I pray we all respond to God's promises with that kind of excited anticipation.
