SERIES: The Chosen King
SERMON: Ready to Respond
SCRIPTURE: Luke 2:15–20
REVIEW
This week, we continued our journey through Luke’s Gospel and saw how the shepherds responded immediately after receiving the angelic announcement of Jesus' birth. These were ordinary men—uneducated, unclean, and untrustworthy by cultural standards—and yet, they were the first humans invited to meet and worship the newborn King.
What set the shepherds apart wasn't their qualifications; it was their willingness to act. As soon as the angels departed, they said, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem.” Their urgency and obedience reflect a powerful pattern we see throughout Scripture: God doesn’t call the impressive—He calls the responsive.
We walked through the stories of Moses, Isaiah, Peter, and Paul—men who were deeply aware of their shortcomings but responded when God called. That same calling is extended to us. Like the shepherds, we are invited to glorify and praise God and to share the good news of Jesus with others.
APPLY
What holds you back from believing God could use you? Is it your past, your insecurities, or a sense that you’re not qualified?
Have you been waiting for more confirmation or clarity before taking action on something God has already made clear?
Where is God calling you to respond right now?
What is ONE WAY you are going to step out in faith this week and respond immediately to what God is calling you to do?
PRAY
Thank God that He doesn’t require us to be impressive, only willing.
Ask God to reveal where you’ve been hesitating and to give you courage to act.
Invite the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to opportunities to glorify Jesus and share His message this week.
Take time to reflect on where God is moving and ask Him to make you ready to respond.
