Sermon: Nothing Wasted

Scripture: Exodus 2

REVIEW

This week, we looked at the Divine Cycle in the life of Moses and how nothing in his past was wasted when surrendered to God. We started by seeing the hardships of Moses’ early life—born under Pharaoh’s death order, abandoned in the Nile, raised in an enemy’s household, and forced into exile after failing as a leader. But when we stepped back, we saw that every hardship, every wilderness, every mistake was actually preparation for his calling.

We also saw a contrast—when Moses allowed God to use his past, it became a Divine Cycle of redemption (his time in Pharaoh’s house prepared him as a strong leader and provided the education needed to write the scriptures, his years in the desert trained him to lead Israel). But when he failed to surrender certain struggles, his past became a Destructive Cycle (his anger caused him to flee Egypt and later kept him from the Promised Land). The lesson? God can use everything for His purpose, but only if we allow Him to redeem it.

APPLY

Moses’ story forces us to ask: Which cycle am I in? There are two options:

THE DESTRUCTIVE CYCLE - Allowing the PAIN of your past to drive you into sinful patterns

THE DIVINE CYCLE - Allowing God to REDEEM YOUR PAIN for His purpose

Application Questions:

  • Are there wilderness seasons I’ve been through that God wants to use for someone else’s good?

  • Are there past failures I need to surrender to break free from a destructive pattern?

  • Is God bringing me back to a familiar place, not for repetition, but for redemption (Like Moses in Egypt or at Mt. Sinai?

What is ONE area of your past that you need to surrender to God so He can use it for your purpose?

PRAY

  • Thank God that nothing in your life is wasted when given to Him.

  • Ask Him to show you areas where your past is preparing you for His purpose.

  • If you recognize a destructive cycle, pray for the courage to break and surrender it fully.

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help you enter the Divine Cycle, letting your past be a testimony, not a trap.
