Sermon: Pursuit Requires REDEMPTION Scripture: Philippians 3:1-14
REVIEW:
This week, we dove into Philippians chapter 3, where Paul warns against false teachings and emphasizes the importance of placing our confidence in Christ, not in our past achievements or failures. Paul illustrates how he viewed his own past accomplishments as trivial compared to knowing Christ.
He encourages us to forget what lies behind us and press on toward the goal of living out God's purpose for our lives. That does not mean to literally wipe your brain of all past events. It means that your past no longer defines you or holds you back from living out your purpose! The main takeaway is that pursuit requires redemption—God doesn't erase our past but redeems it, transforming our experiences and strengths for His glory.
APPLY:
Reflect on Your Past: What past experiences or ideas are you holding onto that might be hindering the pursuit of God’s purpose for your future?
Embrace Redemption: How can you allow God to redeem your past and use it for His purpose?
Next Steps: What is ONE WAY you can let go of the past and focus on the future God has for you this week?
PRAY:
Lord, help me to release the hold that my past has on me and embrace the redemption You offer through Jesus. Guide me to see my experiences as part of Your greater plan for my life. Surround me with role models who reflect Your love and purpose, and give me the courage to pursue the life You created me for. Amen.
