REVIEW
This week, we continued our journey through the Gospel of Luke and saw how God made the very first announcement of Jesus’ birth—not to kings or religious leaders, but to a group of lowly shepherds. These were men who were considered uneducated, unclean, and untrustworthy. And yet, they were chosen to receive the first worship invitation for the Chosen King.
While all of Bethlehem slept, the shepherds were “watching watches”—alert and ready in the darkness. It was their vigilance in the night that positioned them to witness the light of God’s glory breaking through. Their story reminds us that God often chooses the people who feel disqualified. He meets us in our mess, in our shame, in our dark seasons—and invites us to worship.
The shepherds were the first to hear the good news: “Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.” Jesus came for all people—and especially for those who feel forgotten, unworthy, or too far gone.
APPLY
Have you ever felt like the “wrong person” for God to use? What reasons or insecurities have made you feel that way?
What areas of your life feel like darkness right now—places where you’re watching and waiting for God to show up?
Are you truly paying attention to what God is doing around you, or have you been spiritually asleep?
What is ONE WAY you will respond this week like the shepherds—by staying alert, stepping toward Jesus, and worshiping Him right where you are?
PRAY
Thank God that He doesn't wait for us to be perfect or put together before He shows up in our lives.
Ask God to help you see your “disqualifications” as places for Him to display His grace.
Invite God to use your past, your pain, and your perceived weaknesses for His purpose.
Take some time to surrender your fears, doubts, or feelings of unworthiness—and ask God to wake you up to His presence and invitation in your life this week.
